As part of our ongoing "Getting to Know Your Local Businesses" series, we sat down this week with John Ramoin, owner of ProLift Garage Doors.

Tell us a bit about your business:  What does your business offer, and how long have you been around?  
ProLift Garage Doors offers all garage door service needs, from simple routine maintenance to beautifying a home with an elegant door replacement. In addition, we offer a variety of openers including the newest technology that can be operated through smart devices as well as registered through Amazon for your delivery needs. ProLift Garage Doors is Kingwood Owned and Operated!

How did you decide to get involved in this line of work? How did the business get started?  I have a real need to put service back into the home services sector in our community. My group of Kingwood neighbors often discuss the lack of service recently in their home improvement experiences. I learned quite a bit in my 20+ years with a very large package delivery service. I have developed those proven customer experience practices and bring them to an industry that is needing a new approach to focus on the experience of the customer.  

Tell us a couple things you are proud of about your business. What are you known for? What separates you from the competition?  
ProLift Garage Doors is focused on giving back to our local community. We are already sponsoring one of the local PTA organizations, and are very proud to be sponsoring the 12th Annual Humble ISD Golf Classic. We are also honored to be partnering with a start-up called Helping Heroes Outdoors. This group is dedicated to helping veterans with outdoor events like fishing and hunting to help them adjust back into civilian life. In addition, in the coming months, we will be helping with sponsorships at our local schools for their events. 

Who is your ideal customer/client? Who do you serve best?  Our ideal customer is anyone who is in need of repair for their garage door, whether it’s stuck halfway or the remotes are no longer working, or someone who wants to update their house with a new garage door. We also serve businesses, offering a wide variety of installation and repair options for docks, as well as loading bays.

Can you tell us something about yourself as the business owner? What is your background?  
I am a life-long Texas resident. I met my beautiful wife while we attended college and have been married for 13 years. I am a proud father of an 8-year-old boy that attends Willow Creek Elementary. I spent most of my career in the small package industry that is known for exceptional customer service. I now strive to work diligently to bring that level of service to the home services industry.
