Unfortunately, there’s a lot of scam artists out there trying to take advantage of folks during these trying times. No legitimate company is going to ask for log in information, account numbers, personal identification information, etc.
Be very cautious what information you give out online or over the phone. Also be cautious making local purchases online. If a seller is asking for money up front or in advance, be cautious doing business with them.
Be careful of contractors as well, including plumbers, repairmen, etc. Unfortunately there are those out there that will try to take advantage of people. Be wary of any contractor asking for payments up front, such as payments for supplies or services not yet provided, or up-charges for “priority” services.
“Everyone needs to pay close attention, criminals will use every opportunity when we are most vulnerable.” - Constable Mark Herman
