Construction is being finalized and the final details are falling into place as Lone Star College-East Aldine Center prepares to open for classes this fall. The campus has also hired its first round of staff, Brandon Swaringim, Fernando Lanza and Kimberly Sanchez, completing another major process in opening.
The new center, located at 2430 Aldine Mail Route Rd, Houston, TX 77039, will be in the heart of the Aldine community, and it will provide a mix of academic college transfer courses, as well as workforce training programs. On-site services will include registration, college placement testing, free tutoring, academic and career advising, financial aid assistance and a bookstore.
"The LSC-East Aldine Center staff is excited as we prepare for students coming to campus this fall," said Dr. Lucio, LSC-East Aldine Center dean. "We aim to make the registration and first day of class processes easy for students as they begin the semester. Whether taking classes during the day, evening or online, students can have the confidence that we have experienced and committed professionals ready to help them achieve their goals."
A native of the East Aldine community, Dr. Lucio joins LSC-East Aldine Center from the Houston Independent School District, where he served as a senior recruiter for teacher recruitment and selection talent acquisition. He has fostered a career rooted in consistent student success advocacy and bilingual education.
Swaringim returns to the Lone Star College family from the University of Houston-Downtown. He will serve as the LSC-East Aldine Center evening and weekend manager. Lanza will serve as a Coordinator I at LSC-East Aldine Center and oversee daily operations while working closely with recruitment, admissions, registration and student services. Sanchez is the first to join the recruitment and retention department as a Specialist IV, Outreach and Recruitment.
