Deputies from Constable Ted Heap's Office have arrested a man who kidnapped a woman in North Houston, repeatedly assaulted her, and crashed her SUV into a school bus as she was trying to escape.
Christopher Dexter Emerson, 52, abducted the woman at knifepoint at 3 p.m. Wednesday, January 9, outside a drug store in the 12900 block of Aldine Westfield. He forced the victim, a 34-year-old woman, to withdraw money from a nearby ATM, and held her hostage for nearly two hours while driving through North Houston.
The victim escaped as Emerson braked for a school bus unloading in the 13400 block of Chrisman at approximately 4:50 p.m. As the suspect was trying to prevent her escape, he crashed her SUV into the bus and fled on foot.
Deputies with Precinct 5's Strategic Response Unit, who were involved in an unrelated case nearby, pursued the suspect and tracked him to the backyard of a nearby house in the 1500 block of Anice St.
Emerson, who has a lengthy criminal history, was arrested without incident and charged with felony counts of aggravated robbery and aggravated kidnapping. The victim was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital for evaluation.
