According to reports from PCT 4, on July 10, 2018, a deputy with Constable Mark Herman's Office responded to the 1900 block of FM 1960 near Elmwood Ave in Humble in reference to a suspicious vehicle.
Upon arriving, the deputy located a U-haul and a pickup truck in the back of the woods and two males in the process of transferring property between the two vehicles. The males were identified as Roberto (Jose) Mercado and Melvin Galvan.
The PCT 4 deputy investigated and discovered that the U-haul was stolen out of New Mexico and the property had been stolen from several storage units in Harris and Montgomery Counties. The U-Haul and property were recovered and the investigation is ongoing with the possibility of more criminal charges being filed.
"Roberto Mercado was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Theft. Melvin Galvan was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and Theft. Their bond and court information have not been set at this time."
